Whittle takes inspiration from the carved surface of wood, where small shifts in line and plane create texture and depth.
Shaped through the studio’s exploration of carved form and mark-making, loose vertical elements combine with softened geometric shapes. Subtle variation creates movement across the surface, giving the design a tactile, worked quality.
A decorative linen fabric with a layered, textural character.
Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then translated to cloth. Colours are developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.
Our production process uses water-based pigments, blending traditional methods with modern technology adapted to the Fermoie aesthetic and quality standards, with each design created in our studio and brought to life in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
The result is a fabric that is tactile, timeless and quietly infused with the artistry and character that define Fermoie.
