Strié Lampshades

Strié draws on a traditional painting technique, where a dry comb or brush is drawn through wet paint to create fine, linear marks. Explored through drawing in the studio, layered lines move gently across the cloth, forming a subtle striation that gives depth and direction to the surface. Variations in tone and rhythm create a design that reads almost as a plain, while revealing structure and movement on closer inspection. Printed on Fermoie light linen, its refined, textural character lends itself naturally to lampshades, where the surface repeats across the shade, with light diffusing softly through the cloth.

Each lampshade is designed and made in-house by hand in our Marlborough accessories workshop. Careful attention is given to proportion, placement and construction, ensuring the surface sits clearly and evenly around the shape. Each design begins as a hand-drawn repeat, developed in the studio with colour created by eye to sit naturally within the wider collection. The result is a lampshade that is balanced and enduring.
