Strié draws on a traditional painting technique, where a dry comb or brush is drawn through wet paint to create fine, linear marks.
Explored through drawing in the studio, layered lines move gently across the cloth, forming a subtle striation that gives depth and direction to the surface. Variations in tone and rhythm create a design that reads almost as a plain, while revealing structure and movement on closer inspection.
A fabric with a refined, textural character and a distinctly painterly finish.
Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then translated to cloth. Colours are developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.
Our production process uses water-based pigments, blending traditional methods with modern technology adapted to the Fermoie aesthetic and quality standards, with each design created in our studio and brought to life in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
The result is a fabric that is tactile, timeless and quietly infused with the artistry and character that define Fermoie.
