The Fermoie Story
From highly pigmented paint to printing fine textiles. Fermoie was the natural progression for Farrow & Ball founders, Tom Helme and Martin Ephson – taking their deep expertise in colour and light to a new, more textural dimension.
There are almost as many ways to describe the subtle, tactile quality of Fermoie fabrics, as there are colourways in our bespoke collections, over 400 in fact.
Ephemeral. Abstract. Intriguing….. What makes Fermoie so unique is our design and printing technique. Layers of colour on our textured weaves shine through and interact with the prevailing light.
In our studio, we mix water based pigments to create our bespoke colour palette. Our natural dyes create a rich and varied pool of colours that feed into all our collections. We print onto our own basecloths, all perfect for curtains, upholstery and walling
Whether we are specifying basecloths, mixing our dyes or discussing initial designs. Fermoie’s close-knit team are all passionate, talented experts in their chosen fields.
For every gallery wall, contemporary hotel sofa or country cottage, you’ll find a Fermoie fabric. Blending in comfortably with an original design aesthetic – and a story it can truly call its own.
Beautiful fabrics shouldn’t come at the expense of our beautiful environment. So we’re conscious of the impact that weaving, dyeing and printing processes can have.
To help lower our carbon footprint, we always strive to use natural raw materials, water-based pigments and recyclable or biodegradable packaging (and rest assured, we’re working on our cable ties!) Above all, we’ll keep doing our bit to support a more sustainable textile industry.
