Shell Grotto

Shell Grotto draws on the decorative tradition of shell-lined interiors, where natural forms were arranged into intricate ornamental patterns.

Formed through the studio’s exploration of scale and repetition, hand-drawn shell motifs sit within a flowing, structured repeat. The composition balances detail and openness, creating a surface that feels both playful and ordered.

A pattern fabric with a layered, expressive character.

Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then translated to cloth. Colours are developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.

Our production process uses water-based pigments, blending traditional methods with modern technology adapted to the Fermoie aesthetic and quality standards, with each design created in our studio and brought to life in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The result is a fabric that is tactile, timeless and quietly infused with the artistry and character that define Fermoie.
