Rabanna draws on the early tradition of printed cottons, where small-scale geometric patterns were built through repeat and variation.
Formed through the studio’s exploration of block printing and historic pattern, the chevron motif is reinterpreted with subtle irregularity. Repetition creates rhythm across the cloth, while shifts in line and tone introduce depth and movement.
A decorative linen fabric with a structured, rhythmic character.
The design is translated from fabric into wallpaper, retaining the character of the original textile. Texture, subtle variation, and layered colour are carefully preserved, so the surface carries the same depth and nuance as cloth, gently blurring the distinction between cloth and wall.
Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then developed for print.
Colour is developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider Fermoie collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.
Printed using water-based inks, with each design created in the studio and brought to life in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
