Flame Stitch Wallpaper

Flame Stitch reinterprets the traditional needlepoint embroidery pattern first popularised during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, where repeating stepped stitches create the distinctive rhythm of flickering flames.

Through hand drawing and careful refinement in the studio, the familiar zigzag is softened by subtle variations in scale and line. The result retains the movement and structure of the original while introducing a quieter, more contemporary character.

Flame Stitch brings rhythm and texture to an interior. Its colourways have been carefully refined to sit naturally within the wider Fermoie collection, complementing plains, stripes and patterned designs alike.

The design is translated from fabric into wallpaper, retaining the character of the original textile. Texture, subtle variation, and layered colour are carefully preserved, so the surface carries the same depth and nuance as cloth, gently blurring the distinction between cloth and wall.

Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then developed for print. Colour is developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider Fermoie collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.
