Chiltern

Chiltern draws on the shifting character of the landscape, where steeper forms soften into more open ground.

Explored through drawing in the studio, fine zigzag lines and diagonal marks build a surface that sits between a plain and a pattern. The result is a subtle, needlepoint-like texture with gentle rhythm and depth.

A linen fabric with a quietly structured, textural character.

Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then translated to cloth. Colours are developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.

Our production process uses water-based pigments, blending traditional methods with modern technology adapted to the Fermoie aesthetic and quality standards, with each design created in our studio and brought to life in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The result is a fabric that is tactile, timeless and quietly infused with the artistry and character that define Fermoie.
