Aylsham draws on the history of Spanish damasks, where stylised leaves and abstracted natural forms were arranged within intricate repeats.
Observed and translated through the studio, a historic floral fragment informed the design, guiding its flowing structure and decorative detail. Hand-drawn variation softens the pattern, allowing movement and depth to emerge across the cloth.
A decorative cotton with an expressive, contemporary damask character.
Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then translated to cloth. Colours are developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.
Our production process uses water-based pigments, blending traditional methods with modern technology adapted to the Fermoie aesthetic and quality standards, with each design created in our studio and brought to life in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire.
The result is a fabric that is tactile, timeless and quietly infused with the artistry and character that define Fermoie.
