Abbey Stripe

Abbey Stripe is a large-scale stripe built from a series of hand-drawn patterns, lines, and shapes.

Developed through the studio’s exploration of decorative form, the design draws on observed details from carved Norman stone arches, medieval painting, and the natural world, including the chequered pattern of the snake’s head fritillary. Each element carries its own character while contributing to a richly layered composition.

Each Fermoie design begins on paper, where the full repeat is drawn by hand, then translated to cloth. Colours are developed in the studio, where a colour story is created for each design. Palettes are built by eye, to sit naturally within the wider collection, to match, to contrast, and to work together with ease.

Our production process uses water-based pigments, blending traditional methods with modern technology adapted to the Fermoie aesthetic and quality standards, with each design created in our studio and brought to life in-house in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The result is a fabric that is tactile, timeless and quietly infused with the artistry and character that define Fermoie.
